STORMZY – 4PM IN LONDON

Just days after releasing the ‘Gang Signs & Prayer’ Short Film, Stormzy releases a new freestyle visual in the form of ‘4pm In London’.  Clearly aligned with Big Mike’s Mercury-nominated album, the Kaylum Dennis-directed video takes its visual cues from the ‘GSAP’ album cover – seeing a hooded Stormzy in all black perform to camera…

PROVINCE X CADET: INTERVIEW

Swerving Lil Yachty’s main stage performance at this year’s Wireless Festival in favour of British MC Cadet, I arrived at the Pepsi stage to find only his crew present.  Upon further investigation, I found that to my surprise Cadet had vaulted into the middle of the crammed, sweaty crowd, where he was singing at the…

WIKI – PRETTY BULL

Having just announced a solo deal with XL Recordings [the label to which his original NYC trio Ratking was previously signed] Wiki drops new single ‘Pretty Bull’.  The Tony Seltzer-produced track is a step away from the gritty Sporting Life beats that first familiarised us with Wik; with dreamy synths accompanying his tightly wound flow.…

REJJIE SNOW – THE MOON & YOU

With a consistent visual across recent singles ‘D.R.U.G.S.’, ‘Pink Beetle’, ‘Crooked Cops‘ & ‘Flexin‘, you’d have been forgiven for thinking they’d form part of a project themselves.  Turns out though, they were mere red herrings as the Dubliner’s next full length was in fact new mixtape ‘The Moon & You’.  The project is available to download…

OUR MOTHER – HEAVEN [VIDEO]

Having just released new single ‘Heaven‘, Our Mother waste no time in accompanying the track’s stabbing synth horns and falsetto vocal with a new video.  Described as a “homage to karaoke”, the video sees singer John Hartley alone on stage while the rest of the band look on, a little bemused.  It’s feels a very British video; depressing…

JUMO – ETAPE

Multidisciplinary artist Jumo released ‘Nomade‘ last Spring, a seven track EP “about nomadism, emptiness and movement” which was startling in its delicately minimal composition.  The French producer’s next step, ‘Etape’ is similarly brilliant, and serves to whet our apetite for his next project [coming May 2017] with just two tracks; ‘Base’ and ‘Solo’.  Stream below via SoundCloud.

FRANK OCEAN – FLORIDA STATE [SPORTING LIFE REMIX]

Ratking producer Sporting Life returns with an ethereal new remix of Frank Ocean’s ‘Florida’.  The track originally surfaced as part of Ocean’s visual album ‘Endless’ as a minute long section of soaring vocals.  Sporting Life’s edit adds percussion and synths, looping the only vocal on the track; “Are you with me?”  Stream below via SoundCloud.
