Chip presents his 12th mixtape ‘Snakes & Ladders,’ further proof it was needed that the man just does not run out of bars.
The 21-track tape is brimming with features from the likes of Kida Kudz, Dizzee Rascal, JME, Headie One, Mostak, Mavado, Tiwa Savage, Parker Ighile, Aisa, Young M.A, DBE, Haile and Stylo G.
Having buried the hatchet, Chip’s former rival Bugzy Malone also features on ‘Grown Flex,’ which samples T2 & Jodie’s bassline anthem ‘Heartbroken.’ Bugzy’s appearance on the project comes as no surprise folllowing the release of their first collab since the two squashed their beef, ‘Notorious,’ which is set to appear on Bugzy’s forthcoming album ‘The Resurrection.’
Since emerging onto the scene 15 years ago as Chipmunk, Chip has consistently been direct; telling it as it is, which has ultimately found him in some of Grime’s most famous beefs. Last year, Stormzy found himself Chip’s most recent opponent, with Chip making it very clear on tracks ‘Killer MC’ and ‘Flowers’ that he is ready to go head-to-head in a grime clash. Chip continues to send for Stormzy on ’10 Commandmants’, displaying no signs of backing down: “Boy you’re not a Christian, you’re a fraud / Crucify him, praise the Lord / How you blinded by his grace but still manage to find my door?”
‘Snakes & Ladders’ emphasises Chip’s unrivalled pen game and further solidifies him as one of the UK’s most versatile artists, as he immerses himself in a variety of genres including: Grime, Rap, Garage and Dancehall. Snakes & Ladders proves to be one of Chip’s most diverse projects yet. Stream below via Spotify.
