Listening to the futuristic funk of Haich Ber Na’s new track ‘0594 Help,’ you’d be forgiven for missing the fact that it’s decidedly concerned with heartbreak, its lyrics stark, forlorn and urgent. It’s then that the jarring synth stabs begin to make more sense.
“I made this song a few months ago in my front room,” he says. “The concept was about needing someone in a time of panic and ‘0594 Help’ being an imaginary helpline.”
Haich’s falsetto alongside that nimble bassline though; it’s like Prince has been re-incarnated and signed to Ninja Tune, and we’re here for it.
