HEADIE ONE – EDNA

Headie One’s ‘Edna’ is his first studio album and second full length project this year following his collaborative mixtape ‘GANG’ with Fred Again released back in April. The eagerly anticipated debut album is titled after, and dedicated to, Headie’s late mother Edna – who passed away when he was a child.

Featuring previously released singles ‘Only You Freestyle’ ft. Drake and ‘Ain’t It Different’ ft. AJ Tracey & Stormzy, the album also features Future as well as homegrown UK talents M Huncho, Young T & Bugsey, Young Adz, Skepta, Ivorian Doll, Aitch, Haile, Mahalia and US R&B singer Kaash Paige.

The twenty-track album pays fitting homage to Headie’s mother; a reflective and an honest look-back on the rapper’s journey as he navigates life without his mother as a role model. Headie explores the struggles that he has faced, highlighting forgiveness, grief, faith and how each of these have shaped his experiences – presented initially in the first track ‘Teach Me’. The introspective album truly shows off Headie’s lyricism and melodic tone, cementing the Tottenham rapper’s status as the king of Drill. Edna would, no doubt, be very proud. Stream below via SoundCloud.
