Following recent tracks ‘Nobody’s Son‘ and ‘Tricky’ — produced by Blonde’s Jacob Manson — Ladbroke Grove’s Jelani Blackman is back with another.
On ‘Hello,’ Blackman gets personal, revisiting themes of social inequality: “I want a house for my mother / Made my way won’t die in the gutter / Yo it’s nice that you don’t see colour / But I’m black, that’s me on the cover.” Blackman’s distinctively deep, bass-heavy vocal is impactful as ever, which combined with his raw, seemingly effortless songwriting makes ‘Hello’ only too compelling.
