Dave makes a huge statement on new track ‘Black,’ the first official single to come from his debut studio album ‘Psychodrama’ [March 8]. It’s also the first solo offering from the South Londoner this year. The track is as much a celebration of what it is to be black as it is a treatise on racial and social inequality: “Black is beautiful, black is excellent / Black is pain, black is joy, black is evident / It’s workin’ twice as hard as the people you know you’re better than / ‘Cause you need to do double what they do so you can level them.” The video, Nathan James Tettey, Edem Wornoo & Dave himself, sends an equally powerful message, and features cameos from Stormzy, Tiffany Calver and more.
