We spoke to Alcatrz about his new EP in an exclusive interview last Summer, which is now out via Digital Pop Records. It’s been a real work in progress for the London-based rapper and producer: “Scrapped it once, scrapped it twice. Recorded, re-recorded and finally picked 5 songs out of the 45 I made.” Largely, the Hip Hop stylings of previous singles ‘Hol’ Up’, ‘Mean It’ and ‘Sexy‘ are replaced with a Poppier sound; exemplified by the dreamy vocals on ‘079-Ring-Me’ and the Afrobeats-inspired ‘Personal’/ .
