“’Be There / Higher’ is a double A-side single I conceptualised earlier this year,” says Denzel Himself. “I wanted to create and pair two songs that sounded like motorsports and anarchy. For the artwork, though, I wanted to purposefully undersell the ruckus that the music encompasses, as to have a subversive affect. I wanted each shot to look almost uncomfortably clinical, an unnecessary ‘whiteness’. Inspired by contemporary dance expression, I wanted to combine abstract body forms with stark black skin to create a visual rooted more in silhouette than in any particular communication of sorts.”
Both tracks are a daring mixture of genres which only serve to strengthen Denzel Himself’s position as one of the most forward-thinking around. Stream below via SoundCloud.
