Despite being an original Grime fixture, Ghetts has never crossed into the mainstream to the extent that the likes of Skepta, Wiley, Kano and Dizzee Rascal, mostly due to a ocmplete lack of interest in the genre’s noughties flirtation with chart Pop. That hasn’t stopped him assembling something of an all-star cast for new album ‘Ghetto Gostpel: The New Testament’; Stefflon Don, President T, Wretch 32, Kojey Radical, Chip and Little Simz, to name just a few, all queue up on his sixth studio album.
It’s a superb collection in spite of its length; Ghetts is as impassioned as ever but his delivery more varied, and also more refined. In many ways it’s a he re-evaluation of the first ‘Ghetto Gospel’; different in tone, more considered. Less preachy, more observant. Stream below via Spotify.
