JMZ follows up recent drop ‘Let Me Be‘ with a second single from upcoming mixtape ‘Let Me Be Great’. ‘Church Ave’ pitches a haunting vocal loop against ominous Trap bass to hypnotic effect, and was inspired by a Japanese Pop track. “I can’t remember the name but I just ran with it. As it became more complete it reminded me of the time I spent in Flatbush in Brooklyn; travelling at night through a big city with a lot of lights.” It’s a beautifully simple track, marked by its captivating repetition: “It’s often easier to make something good when it’s complex but can be harder to make something simple sound good.
