‘Lavender‘ first found life as a Kaytranada-assisted track on BadBadNotGood’s latest album ‘IV‘. It was sufficiently eery back then, but producer Nightfall has amplified things in that regard, and a new video starring Snoop Dogg and a load of clowns pushes things over the edge. Apparently, Snoop heard the track when an engineer played it before a studio session, then quickly cut a verse to it. “I love what they do, shit feels so real” he said. “And when I heard the instrumental on their album I had to do it.” If you’re thinking the artwork looks familiar, that’ll be because it was created by Joe Cool, the artist behind the iconic ‘Doggystyle’ album artwork.
