Mick Jenkins works with Toronto Jazz band BADBADNOTGOOD on a new track from upcoming album, ‘The Healing Component’ [September 23]. “It has been a one of a kind experience working with BADBADNOTGOOD. A lot of the time they were just jamming and I was freestyling until we came across things we liked.” The result of this is ‘Drowning’, a pensive slow-burner that poignantly quotes Travyon Martin and appears to riff on a line from Kanye West’s ‘Bound 2’.
As well as being accompanied by a dark new video from director Nathan Smith, the track comes part of a slew of news from the Chicago rapper. Along with its release date [September 23], ‘THC”s tracklist, features and production credits have also been announced [production is handled in the main by THEMpeople, and theMIND is reliably on hand for vocal duties.
