The first single to come from Clipping’s forthcoming LP ‘Splendor & Misery’ was ‘Baby Don’t Sleep‘; an arrestingly breakneck introduction to the “adystopian, Afrofuturist concept album” from which it’s lifted. The story, told through the eyes of an interstellar slave ship’s onboard computer during an uprising. Director Carlos Lopez Estrada says of the new video: “I met with Clipping a few months ago to talk about potential ideas for this video and they half jokingly said that we should put Daveed in zero gravity. I emailed them back a few days later saying “I know you were kidding, but what if we do?” We then embarked on a wonderful creative journey of scrappy visual effect techniques and ended up with our own janky version of zero gravity, which turned up to be a pretty cool thing, I believe.” We’re inclined to agree – stream below via YouTube, click here to pre-order ‘Splendor & Misery’ on iTunes.
