It’s certainly been a long time coming, but we finally have some new music from Frank Ocean – it’s just not quite what you might have expected. Long-awaited second album ‘Boys Don’t Cry’ was rumoured to arrive last month, but fans were left in the cold as the speculated release date came and went. In its place, we’ve been given ‘Endless’, a forty five minute visual album. Monochrome footage of Frank in a warehouse is accompanied by sparse, minimal R&B. It’s not nearly as the lush instrumentation on Channel ORANGE, but additional production from the likes of James Blake, Radiohead guitarist/composer Jonny Greenwood, Sampha, Jazmine Sullivan alongside Ocean’s delicate vocal are more than enough to keep things interesting.
