It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Isaiah Rashad. 2014’s ‘Cilvia Demo‘ was a quietly confident EP; a low-key release amidst his labelmates’ more headline-grabbing releases. The TDE rapper has since dropped ‘Nelly’, ‘Smile‘ and now ‘Free Lunch’ – a trio of singles taken from his upcoming album.
Over a mellow, pensive-sounding beat from producer Cam O’bi, Rashad moves seamlessly between a punchy hook and verses packed with as much technique as content. Directed by A-Plus, the track’s video sees Rashad and a female cohort on the come-up in a launderette, and also reveals the date of his as-yet-untitled album as September 2. Stream below via YouTube.
