Ash Koosha was born in Iran, where he was imprisoned for performing the kind of mind-bending music that has earned him his name. Having sought asylum in the UK, the synaesthete is now putting the finishing touches to new album ‘I AKA I’, which will be released on Ninja Tune later this year, accompanied by a series of virtual reality screenings using Oculus Rift technology. The Persian influence on ‘Mudafossil’, the first track to come from the album, is obvious from the get-go – but clearly having undergone a process Koosha calls “finding geometry in sounds.” Stream below via SoundCloud.
