If you’re a fan of Ratking, no-doubt part of their appeal is the supreme production talents of Sporting Life. His process involves re-sampling the outputs from his beloved Rowland SP-555 sampler, after which his upcoming solo debut ’55 5’s’ is named. The first track from the project comes in the form of new single ‘Badd’. Speaking about the track, Sporting Life said, “In some ways ‘Badd’ feels like the most experimental track. It feels like The Matrix to me — the sample that sounds like a voice is actually a drum, just manipulated. All of the duplicated sounds on the track are cousins of the original sound that take on their own presence and life.” Stream below via SoundCloud.
