After releasing the title single a couple of weeks back, DJ Premier and Royce Da 5’9 stream their collaborative debut, ‘PRhyme’, on NPR ahead of its December 9 release. The nine track album surpasses all expectations as far as we’re concerned; Premo’s beats and Nickel Nine’s bars go together so well you’d have thought they’d done this a million times before. We knew that Adrian Younge [see ‘12 Reasons To Die‘] was involved in the production, but we didn’t know we’d hear verses from Mac Miller, Ab-Soul, ScHoolboy Q, Common, Dwele, Jay Electronica, Killer Mike and the rest of Slaughterhouse. Throughout, ‘PRhyme’ feels like a celebration of the producer/rapper relationship, be it through Royce quoting Biggie/Pusha T/Jay Z, Premo grabbing the mic, or the two vibing off each other in the studio. UPDATE: Now the album is out [December 9], stream it in full here.
