Kid Smpl released his ‘Silo Tear’ EP today via Hush Hush records after garnering support from the likes of Red Bull Music Academy and XLR8R.  The Seattle producer constructs layers with such intensity that one can’t help but recall Clams Casino, particularly while listening to the lo-fi elegance of ‘Ja’.  However, throughout the five tracks we get bursts from out of left field: ‘Far Light’ takes elements from Jungle/Drum & Bass, while ‘Protect’ takes on a beautiful kind of post-dubstep Trap vibe.  It’s these glimmers of versatility that elevate Kid Smpl from good to brilliant.  Stream below via BandCamp.
