After it leaked online, and was streamed for free thanks to iTunes, the release date for Eminem’s ‘The Marshall Mathers LP 2’ is finally upon us.  The album has been billed as a “revisitation” of Em’s 2000 album, which was always going to set it up for a fall.  Although tracks like ‘Braindead’ and ‘Evil Twin’ feel vaguely inspired by the original, it comes as no surprise that the album fails in this respect.  On the mic, Eminem’s content is as entertaining, and his delivery as prolific, as ever.  However, there is too much self-indulgence (‘Stronger Than I Was’/’The Monster’) and too many poor instrumental choices for this album to sit happily alongside its counterpart.  Having said that, there are enough moments of brilliance on tracks like ‘Rap God’ and ‘Love Games’ to satiate.  Click the photo to download via iTunes, or stream below via Spotify.
