Willis Earl Beal surfaced last year after his self-distributed music, poetry and artwork earned him a deal with Hot Charity (with whom he released his debut ‘Acousmatic Sourcery’). The tracks from that era convey Earl Beal’s immediately apparent desperation. This time around, ‘Nobody Knows’ conveys every bit as much emotion, but with a richer production aesthetic. This album features a few more soul-inspired tracks, some strings, piano, and even horns, but Earl Beal is at his best on the dirty, gutsy Blues tracks such as ‘Too Dry To Cry’, ‘Ain’t Got No Love’, and title track ‘Nobody Knows’.
